Sit & Wait Clinics
From 6th December 2021 we will be introducing a Sit & Wait clinic every morning, Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 10.30am.
This service will be run by GP’s and Nurse Practitioners (who can prescribe just like a GP) and is suitable for any condition that you feel is urgent i.e. cannot wait 24hrs or longer to be seen in a routine appointment.
Please note that these clinics will not deal with sick note requests, repeat prescriptions or results.
This service replaces our previous on the day access system.
Routine Appointments
For a routine appointment please book via online access, the NHS App or by telephone on 0116 2227272.
Pre-bookable appointments are available in the afternoons with all clinicians (except the HCA for blood tests) and can usually be booked more than 7 days in advance.
Please note each routine appointment is for 10 minutes and the clinician will only discuss 1 problem per appointment.
When an appointment is booked you will receive a text message advising you of your appointment date and time, please make a record of this information. We will attempt to send a reminder text message the day before your appointment, but please ring the practice and cancel any appointment that you cannot make, allowing other patients to use it instead of it being wasted.
Booking Online
Currently suspended due to COVID restrictions
To be able to book appointments on-line, simply ask at reception for details about obtaining a Username and Password for online access or complete the Online Access Registration along with your proof of ID.
PLEASE NOTE: we will ask you for proof of identity - as more healthcare services become available online, your online password will give you aspects to information available in your confidential health record, so it is important we ensure it is YOU we are giving a password to. It's really important you keep your password secure and confidential, too. Treat it like your debit card/credit card PIN number.
The service will allow you to book a routine appointment with a GP but is not available for the following: pill check/change, depo injection, BP check, other injections, NHS Health Checks, Long Term condition reviews such as diabetes and asthma reviews and travel vaccinations/advice. You will need to see a Nurse for these issues rather than a GP.
When an appointment is booked on-line you will receive a text message advising you of your appointment date and time, please make a record of this information.
Telephone Consultations
If you require a telephone consultation rather than coming to the practice and being seen face to face, please contact the surgery on 0116 2227272 to arrange this.
Late Attendance
Please ensure that you arrive on time for your appointment, as it is not always possible to see you on the same day if you miss your appointment slot. If you are late you may be asked to re-book your appointment. This decision will be made by the clinician and whether they can see you or not will depend on whether they have had any patients cancel so they can fit you in.
Out of Hours Information
If you require urgent medical attention outside normal hours please ring 111
For emergencies, please ring 999
