The NHS 111 service is now available to all our patients. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones – just dial 111.

You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. When you call 111, a trained adviser will ask you questions to find out what’s wrong, give you medical advice and direct you to someone who can help you, like an out-of-hour doctor or a community nurse.

NHS 111 uses Type Talk for people who are hard of hearing, and has interpreters available for callers who do not speak English.

You can call 111 from anywhere in England.

When to use it

For immediate, life-threatening emergencies, continue to call 999.

You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation and the GP surgery is closed.

For less urgent health needs, contact us at the surgery or your local pharmacist in the usual way.

If a health professional has given you a specific phone number to call when you are concerned about your condition, continue to use that number.

The surgery opening times are available on the by clicking here

Accessing urgent medical care when we are closed

There is always a message on our surgery answer phone( 0116 2227272) when we are closed explaining how to access urgent medical care.

After 6.30pm any week day or at weekends and bank holidays please phone the NHS 111 service.

Please think carefully about accessing out of hours services and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

If you are registered as a patient of this practice, you can also get an appointment with a GP or prescribing nurse at one of our healthcare hubs, including during evenings, weekends and bank holidays:

• Westcotes Health Centre (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week)
• Belgrave Health Centre (Mon – Fri 6:30pm to 10pm, weekends and bank holidays 12pm to 8pm)
• Saffron Health (Mon – Fri 6:30pm to 10pm, weekends and bank holidays 12pm to 8pm)

If we have been unable to offer you an appointment and you need to see someone quickly, ask our reception staff about an appointment at a healthcare hub instead. You can also book the appointment yourself by calling 0116 366 0560 or NHS 111.

Appointments can be booked for the same day or up to 48 hours in advance.
